Full Disclosure

Or,

May Wrap-Up

Well, there you go again, I disappeared for a bit. We’ve actually had a few days that make me think summer might get here at some point, so I’ve been busy. At least that’s my latest lame excuse.

Here were the May goals:

I really want to finish the body section of the True Blood Faery section.

I want to finish the Targhee spinning.

Blog more.

So how did I do? That’s where the full disclosure comes in. I didn’t get the body of True Blood done. I’m about 15 rows short of finishing the back section, which will do it.

I didn’t finish the Targhee spinning, though I only have about an ounce left to spin, I started with a pound of this stuff.

Blogging? Four posts. That’s it.

In my defense, I’d like to point out that I read a bunch of books, I cooked a bunch of really swell meals, and I worked. And here are some photos of the knitting.

Aren’t those cables pretty? That photo is close to the real color, but not quite.

That’s awfully pretty, too. It’s very hard to look on either of those things as a “failure”, even if I didn’t quite hit the goal. I’m also knitting a stealth* project, so I did get some things done.

So how about June goals? I’m declaring a month of amnesty. For June, I’m just going to knit whatever I damn well please. Except for that stealth project, of course. Babies have a way of showing up even if you’re not done with the knitting.

*Another family baby is about to appear. I think this might be the last of them for awhile!

  1. I’m finding that life does get in the way of blogging. But I’d rather be living life than blogging about it. Having said that, my goal is to post more regularly in June!

  2. I had to give up making month to month goals, I never finished what I would set out to do. And besides, these are hobbies, we should just enjoy!

The projects are lovely though, love the colors in the spinning.

  3. I like what I’m seeing and hearing. Cooking, traveling, working, knitting, spinning… sounds like a pretty good balance between work and play.

  4. The sweater looks great. I just knit a slouch hat for my great niece (her Mom is having a Sweet 16 party for her – I didn’t know they had those anymore – & said she’d love a knitted hat because she loves being unique & no one else will have one just like one I knit for her – she & her brothers are always very appreciative of any knitted tems I make for them). And I have rediscovered my love of knitting cables. Also a hat is so much faster than socks or a sweater, even a toddler sweater. I loved the pattern – it’s well written & very attractive. I think I’ll have to drop the designer a note to let her know how much I enjoyed knitting the hat. I think I’ll make one for myself. We had very cool rainy yucky weather & then (in typical Chicago fashion), it got hot – high 90’s yesterday, today & tomorrow.

  5. You may surprise yourself by accomplishing a whole bunch in June! And if not, it’s all good. The sweater is looking absolutely amazing. 🙂

  6. I’ve been thinking how I’ve fallen short in the FO department. But complicated projects are engrossing and your cables are wonderful (I almost want to reach into the computer and touch them).

  7. OH I love the yarn you are spinning, it’s beautiful.

I’ve been knitting whaever for a while! it’s been a nice break.
    xo
