The granite counters got installed yesterday. They are just gorgeous, so I thought I’d show some photos. No knitting here, so if that’s what you came for, move along. Nothing to see here…
This is the fancy-schmancy sink we got for the powder room (with Randy, our contractor):
Looks heavy, boys!
Yes, I cringed a bit while they were cutting the opening for the cooktop. He did it without any noticeable finger protection, eye protection, or ear coverings. I’m not their mother, so I didn’t say anything.
Last but not least, a glass of wine to celebrate:
Today is plumbing day. The sinks will be functional after today, and if all goes as planned, we’ll have a dishwasher. Then all that will be left will be the tile backsplash and a few finishing details, and the glass doors on those cabinets in the dining room.
Just for a little comparison, here are some photos of what the kitchen used to look like.
Bye bye, ugly grey plastic!
YAYYYY i love the sink in the powder room!
Oh my goodness – GORGEOUS! But, I am IN LOVE with the powder room!!
Gorgeous! It looks just like a show room. 😉
it just gets better and better. If I’m ever your way, I might have to arrange an inspection!! 😉
It’s sooooooooooo beautiful!
Oh man…it is divine! Enjoy!
Ooooooo Ahhhh. It is just stunning! Are the counter tops green or black? The cabinets are gorgeous too!
That looks wonderful.
Lovely! And a glass of wine is lovely, too, after all that.
Wow. Can I come live in your kitchen?
Just marvelous! Enjoy. I can hardly wait to see some of the masterpieces you cook up in the gourmet kitchen. Mmmmmm. Love the glass bowl sink.
It is looking gorgeous!!
The new kitchen is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
WOW!
I love the dude swilling some wine on the counter. That’s classic!
Wow! Gorgeous!
Ooh, it’s all really nice!
Love the counters! And of course the interesting wine holder!
Hey, Lorette, I’d only looked at John’s photos til I got your email. It’s fun to see these, too! And the photo at the end of ‘before’ is amazing after seeing all the progress. I do believe that I can break a wine glass on the new countertop as easily as I could on the old one. Great kitchen! E
Wow, just wow!
it looks absolutely fantastic!
enjoy that glass of wine or 3….(but for pete’s sake don’t fall down and cut your finger on broken glass)
Oh, wow!!!
Wow! Just wow.
WOW ! It’s gorgeous.
I would have been to nervous to sit there and watch them cut that glorious marbletop.
I’ll be that you are excited to be so close to using your kitchen once again 🙂
And that bathroom sink…… awesome!
Wow! Love your new kitchen & envy the amount of counter & cabinet space. The cabinets are virtually identical to mine although are they light natural cherry? (Mine are natural maple & I have very pale pink Corian counter tops – to help lighten up a dark area.) Our dining room is also right next to the kitchen & there used to be a wall between the 2 which we had removed & replaced with cabinets & a counter top (wider than the cabinet so one can sit on one of the stools at the overhang [dr side] for an informal meal.) We also installed hanging cabinets above – we just had to have more cabinet space than otherwise available (we use them for dishes, cups & glasses) – but they have clear glass doors on both sides so as to maximize the amount of light in a dark corner of our house.
Wow ! What a beautiful kitchen. Enjoy every minute in it.
Love the new kitchen … and the sink in the powder room is the BEST!
We were told when buying fixtures for 3 bathrooms that what you have is a ‘vessel’ not a sink because a sink is sunken. Anyway, all is beautiful. I would have been happy with the old kitchen, but the new is absolutely gorgeous. Can you tell I have kitchen envy?
wow!! fabulous kitchen! What will be the first meal made in the new digs?? And the sink in the powder room is too gorgeous to use!
My goodness that sink is AWESOME!!!!
And Peacock is growing beautifully!!!
Love the wine holder, but can’t quite make out the label. He looks like he’s enjoying it though 😉
Very very nice!!
I LOVE your new kitchen!!! What are you going to cook first in it??? : )
Wow! It’s stunning Lorette! Enjoy it long and well!
Good for you! Definitely a kitchen more suited to wining and dining.
Lorette, Looks fantastic. Many happy meals in there.
I live in Kirkland and need the name of a good contractor, as we are about to do our kitchen, floors, paint….And if you would send me the sources for your appliances, granite and whatever else, that would be great! Thanks!
your kitchen looks amazing!!! it looks exactly what i want for my kitchen someday
Oh Lorette, your kitchen is to die for, but so is the rest of your house! I LOVE your granite and the cabinetry. I know you will enjoy this forever! Wonderful material choices ~ can’t wait to see the backsplash. The tile in the powder room is quite lovely, too.
Yes, it does look so much better!
We said the same thing last week when we put in the new floor.
I just found your blog today, and am having fun looking through it (so you may or may not find some comments in old random posts from nosy old me!). That kitchen is spectacular; you must be thrilled! But, forget the kitchen- that bathroom sink! Oh. My. God. I. Love. That. Sink.
My plan is to befriend you so I can visit from clear across the country, in order to wash my hands in that sink. Yup, that’s my plan.
