We’re now on the west coast of Ireland, in a town called Kenmare, on the road to the Ring Of Kerry, which will be today’s adventure. Here are some photos from the past few days.
I was a little nervous about touching the standing stones, but didn’t go anywhere*.
There are lots of sheep here.
And a druid. I think he wanted to knit.
And some yarn, finally. I haven’t seen one yarn shop since I’ve been here, despite seeing flocks and flocks of sheep.
We’re off for the day!
*If you’re an Outlander fan, you’ll know of what I speak.
I used to live in Ireland and your posts are bringing back pleasant memories.
Regarding yarn shops, I think there is one in Kenmare, you could check out Celtic Memory Yarns blog (fantastic photos), that is where I read about it. Of course there is also Ravelry, there is an Irish forum.
Slainte ;-),

These photos and descriptions are terrific. Continue having fun!
That was about my only disappointment with Ireland – all those sheep and nary a yarn shop to be found.
Wow! So fun!
great photos (thanks John!).
And I’m so glad that you didn’t poof off into the past – and I bet John is too 🙂
Maybe the next set of standing stones. 😉
I was amazed at the rings of standing stones we saw when #1 son and I went to England and Scotland in 1995. In back yards, in fields… everywhere!
Good find on the yarn 🙂
Lovely photos. I’m pretty sure that the Irish eat a lot of lamb – even mutton. I’m half Irish & grew up eating lamb stew about once a week in the winter (still love it although the Irish version is more like soup). My mother always wanted to have leg of lamb occasionally but it turned out that I am the only child of hers to love it. When my children were little & she came for an occasional visit, I always made leg of lamb for the 2 of us (& my partner.) Turns out my kids don’t like lamb either!
ONE yarn shop….that is all I saw while we were over there….and it was closed!!!! 🙁
You must not have had the right gemstones. Jamie is going to have to just wait a while longer. 😉
Those rocks are wonderful! And you’re very photogenic.
So beautiful! Wish I were there to enjoy all the green and all the Guiness and to lift one with you.
Have you got your copy of An Echo in the Bone yet? I want to re-read A Breath of Snow and Ashes before I read mine. The photo of the standing stones gave me goosebumps. That is right up at the top of my list of things to see.
Love your photos! I’m reading book 3 of the series and I’m hooked!
I would have loved to have seen those stones, and probably would have been a bit hesitant to touch them, too. have you seen that the next book is out? I am waiting for the audiobook version now and ordered one for my mother, also. LOL I got her addicted to jamie and claire and she got my SIL and aunt addicted.
I’m so drooling over your trip to Ireland. I went years ago with my parents and now am dreaming of going there with my DH and maybe my son (he’s 1.5 years old). I loved all of the places you’re talking about.
