OK, did anybody else think of Andy Williams or the Lettermen when they read the title of this post? Terrific, now I’m not going to get that sappy song out of my head.
Anyway, this post is not about Andy Williams or the Lettermen. It’s about being Almost There with a finished project.
Yes, I have been knitting this blasted thing for eons. It’s Almost Done, though. The knitting is All Done, and it’s currently in the tub getting a soak. Then it’s the buttons, and the little button loops, which I have no idea how to do, but I suppose I’ll just wing it, like I do most things. And a tassel. I’m pretty sure the hood needs a tassel. Then it will be Really Done.
Buttons! I keep forgetting about the buttons, which is pretty much why I made this sweater. Here they are, again.
True Blood Faery Buttons!
We’re Almost Ready for Christmas around here. We’re having our big annual Solstice Dinner on Saturday, so I’ve got a lot of cooking to do. Of course there will be photos, so stay tuned.
Here are a couple of photos from our tree decorating this year.
Why yes, we do open a bottle of champagne for the tree decorating!
And now, just for your listening pleasure:
Wow, that sweater is amazing! I put mine down and never picked it back up again. I think one reason was that the no directions for the sleeves scared me. Did you take good notes? And would you be willing to help me sort it out when I get to the sleeves?? You’ve inspired me to try again!
The sweater is awesome!! As are the buttons! Yay!
I can’t believe you’re almost finished! I have the pattern, but I’ve been living vicariously through you so I never have to actually knit it. It’s looking crazy good!!
Dear Lorette and Family
Merry Xmas and a fabulous 2013.
Kisses
Gisele
That sweater is amazing.
Glad you provided the link. I had no knowledge base on this one.
Oh God, I’d happily forgotten about that song, thanks for nothing! 😉
I think your sweater is definitely going to be worth it – and the shade of red is one that I just love.
Can’t wait to hear about the Winter Solstice party – enjoy, and have a wonderful Christmastime.
Even if it’s singing “Moon RIver,” Andy Williams’ voice takes me promptly to Christmas. Perry Como’s, too.
The sweater is beautiful. Thanks for posting the video. I didn’t know the song and the curiosity was killing me. 🙂
The sweater is fabuloso! Oops! I think it probably is a girl. Fabulosa! It has indeed been a long haul, but those are so gratifying when finally done.
And the Christmas decor is fabulosus!
No wonder it took you awhile to knit that sweater — that is a LOT of knitting! It turned out beautifully, especially with those perfect buttons.
The sweater looks great on you, even not quite completely finished. 🙂
LOL – love the little drink shaker ornament. Hope you have a great time tomorrow!
LOVE your sweater…can’t wait to see it all finished, buttons and everything! You will be so glad it’s done, I’m sure.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
The sweater looks beautiful and the buttons are fabulous!!
You’ve got the hardest part behind you! Congrats!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
That is a lot of knitting, beautiful knitting! More than I’ve done this past year.
Woohoo! I LOVE it! I didn’t want to ask about it because I didn’t want to pester… but I’m so glad to see you wearing it. I have a thick grosgrain ribbon which I’m going to sew across the shoulder seams and under the hood to stabilize the sweater. I find that the weight of all that yarn in my size just pulls the sweater off my shoulder when it drapes. So that’s going to be my solution. Maybe I’ll get it done this week and can post it. I still need to seriously reconsider re-knitting the button band because I cast on about 15% too many stitches and it shows. Hmmmm. Decisions. Decisions. What lessons did you learn from your Faery Ring? It looks gorgeous!!!!
Absolutely perfect buttons!
